National Night Out is August 4th
“Saginaw Township’s Night Out”
Tuesday, August 4th, 2025
6:00pm to 9:00pm
Saginaw Township Soccer Complex – 3575 McCarty Road
On Tuesday, August 4th, the Saginaw Township Police Department will join over 17,000 communities nationwide for “National Night Out”. This Event is held the first Tuesday in August every year and this will be the 22nd year the department has hosted the event.
The purpose of this event is to generate support for, and participation in local crime fighting efforts by creating and strengthening police-community partnerships. The Saginaw Township Police Department is again organizing an event with public safety activities, presentations, demonstrations, and fun for the entire family to enjoy. “This is an opportunity for our public to come out and visit with their Public Safety Professionals in a fun relaxing environment.” said Chief of Police, Scott Malace.
This year’s event will again be held at the Saginaw Township Soccer Complex, located at 3575 McCarty Road, between Bay and Mackinaw Roads with sponsors being White Orthodontics and Meijer.
National Night Out will run from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
“For National Night Out a lot of communities host smaller block parties, but we like to be able to say that our National Night Out is the largest single venue event north of Detroit.” said one of the event organizers, Crime Prevention Officer Lyle Esterhai.
Numerous non-profit volunteers will be on hand to provide a carnival atmosphere with
several inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses for children to play in along with face painting, games, prizes, a D.J. and lots of free fun for kids of all ages. “This is a fun one stop shop for anybody looking to learn more about Public Safety and see the equipment that is used on a daily basis” Esterhai said.
Again this year, Saginaw Township Police have partnered with Field Neurosciences Institute (FNI), our nation’s leader in neurological injury prevention to custom fit bike helmets for children. The helmets will be available for toddlers (older than one), children, and teens for FREE. FNI has been an active partner with Saginaw Township’s Night Out event since 2004, encouraging brain safety and injury prevention.
Patrol cars from every corner of Saginaw County will be on display. Police Officers who patrol and protect various communities will be on hand for kids young and old to tour their vehicles and answer any questions.
The Saginaw County Emergency Services Team (SWAT) will be there with their armored personnel carrier and the tools they use to complete their missions.
Several Saginaw County Fire Departments along with their fire fighters will be on hand to let children sit in the trucks and answer questions.
The Saginaw City Fire Department will have their brand-new smoke house set up to educate kids and parents on how to stay low and get out of a home in the event of a fire. Children will also have the opportunity to shoot a fire hose or play in the water sprayer from the giant aerial ladder truck.
In addition to the Flight Care and Michigan State Police helicopters landing during the night’s events a U.S. Army helicopter is in the works to land allowing kids to tour the aircraft.
Several boy’s and girl’s bikes will be given away in a free raffle. This free raffle is sponsored by the Saginaw Lodge of Fraternal Order of Police and Dow Credit Union.
The “Arrive Alive” vehicle simulator will be on hand to raise awareness to the dangers of drunk and distracted driving. This state of the art vehicle simulator is sponsored by Aird Insurance.
For those who are interested in eating, several popular food trucks will be set up and open for business.
